Mrs. Alicia Crespo, Music Specialist

_______________________________________________________
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
My name is Alicia Crespo, and I have a BS in Music Education from Tennessee Technological University. I have served in both public and private schools in TN from 1994-2003, working for the Metro Nashville Public Schools as an elementary music specialist and at Our Savior Lutheran Academy and Preschool. After my husband's job moved us to Jacksonville in August 2003, I began the best job I've ever had....teaching at Grace Lutheran School.
I instruct all students in PK3-8th grade in general music, conduct the 6th grade and 7th-8th grade chorus and handbells, and teach private piano lessons before and after school. I have also served the church as music director, regularly assist in the services as a soloist, playing guitar and piano with the praise team, and choir member, and have sung with both the Nashville Opera and Symphony Choruses.
I am an Orff and Kindermusik certified music educator and have completed colloquy courses through Concordia University in Seward, NE. My youngest daughter is currently a student at Grace, and my oldest, a 2013 GLS graduate, attends Douglas Anderson School of the Arts and is majoring in vocal music.
Music Philosophy of Grace Lutheran School
Through activity-based instruction, students will sing, play instruments, listen to and analyze music from a variety of time periods and cultures, and create musical compositions. Students will develop musical intelligence in the technical aspects and aesthetic value of music
My Mission:
My music classes are child-centered programs that help develop musical, cognitive, and social skills. Each child is an important member of the group and is taught to respect the feelings and ideas of others. A variety of educational materials are used to give children experiences in music from around the world.
